transpiration-cooled blades

A form of film cooling in which blades are cooled by transpiration. Transpiration is the process by which a body having a porous surface is cooled by the forced flow of coolant fluid through the surface from the interior. The cool air passes through many holes in the blade surface into the gas flow.
